I really couldn’t wait to get started. I packed my little bag; not much would be needed they said because everything would be provided once on the ground. But just to be safe, I placed my favorite doll inside my heart and I reported for TRANSPORT.
Thomas did the same. Except he took his doll and placed his compass over his doll’s heart then put the doll inside his own heart. That way, he said, he’d always know where he was and he’d be sure to find me too. We wouldn’t get lost, he said. Who ever thought that was even a possibility! But I didn’t say so; he was kind to reassure me. Friends are like that.
We waited. And waited. And waited. Finally just the right STARS came together—sometimes they can seem so slow getting together—but once together they created our slide to EARTH. How magnificent STARS are! So worth the wait. Twinkle and twist, a twilight of delight, the carpet of lights rolled out slowly before us all the way to EARTH.
Thomas and I hugged, we shook hands, we bumped together our behinds. That’s what we had seen in the football movies we watched to prepare for our travel to PLANET EARTH. We figured that’s how everyone greeted each other here: “See you later, buddy!” “ Don’t be late, mate!” And off we went.
